The Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand is one of the most popular Hindu pilgrimages in India, which consists of four holy sites – Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri – nestled high up in the Himalayas. The doors of Kedarnath Dham will open on April 25, followed by Badrinath Dham on April 27 and Gangotri Temple on Akshaya Tritiya on April 22.

The Uttarakhand Tourism Development Council has reported that a total of 6.34 lakhs devotees have registered for the Char Dham Yatra this year, with 2.41 lakh registrations done for Kedarnath Dham, 2.01 lakh for Badrinath Dham, 95,107 for Yamanotri and 96,449 for Gangotri Dham.

Additionally, the Uttarakhand Chief Minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami, has instructed the concerned officials to complete the travel arrangements by 15 April. Furthermore, the Director General, Medical Health and Family Welfare and Director Corporate Affairs and CSR Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) have also signed an MoU for health screening in identified medical units of Garhwal division. This facility will help pilgrims to get a lot of conveniences.

The hotel associations in Uttarakhand have threatened to protest if the state government doesn’t review its policies relating to the Char Dham yatra. They have expressed concerns over the state government’s decision to cap the number of pilgrims coming from outside the state and reducing the duration of the pilgrimage season. The hotel associations argue that this will affect their business and lead to job losses.

To sum up, the Char Dham Yatra is all set to start from April this year and pilgrims are advised to register themselves for the yatra to avail benefit of all the facilities.
