Andhra Pradesh to Boost Renewable Energy Sector with Rs 22,302 Crore Investment

The Andhra Pradesh State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) has given the green light to substantial investments totaling Rs 22,302 crore in the field of energy, poised to considerably advance the renewable energy sector in the state. These investments are projected to create a promising 5,300 job opportunities. The decisions were made during a meeting presided over by Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Leading the investments with the largest commitment of Rs 12,065 crore, JSW Neo Energy Ltd plans to erect four solar power projects with a combined capacity of 3,350 MW. These will be spread across various districts with notable projects like a 400 MW facility in Chakrayapeta of YSR District, two 1,050 MW facilities in Mudigubba of Sri Satya Sai District and one each in Rapthadu and Kanganapalley of Anantapur district, plus an 850 MW plant shared between D. Hirehal and Bommnaal of Anantapur district. The solar projects alone will generate employment for 3,300 individuals.

In addition to solar power, JSW will also bring 171 MW worth of wind power projects to fruition in Owk mandal of Nandyala district and Kurnool district, amounting to an investment of Rs 1,287 crore and 200 new jobs. Similarly, Aqua Green Engineering Management Pvt Ltd has been sanctioned to set up a 1,000 MW solar power initiative at Puligundlapally in Talupula mandal of Sri Satyasai district with an investment of Rs 4,000 crore, likely to employ a workforce of 1,000.

Further diversifying the state’s renewable energy portfolio, Ecogreen Energy India Pvt Ltd will develop a 200 MW wind energy project in Kurnool district costing Rs 1,350 crore, along with 200 job openings. Also contributing to the wind energy segment, Renew Vikram Shakti Pvt Ltd will undertake the construction of 600 MW wind projects located in Sri Satyasai and Anantapur districts for an investment of Rs 3,600 crore, which will add another 600 jobs to the state’s economy.

This series of approvals represents a significant step towards bolstering the energy infrastructure and reaffirms Andhra Pradesh’s commitment to sustainable development. Held at the CM’s camp office in Visakhapatnam, the meeting underscored the pivotal role these investments will play in the state’s drive towards renewable energy and job creation, with SIPB’s full backing.

In attendance at the high-profile investment approval meeting were Deputy Chief Minister B Muthyala Naidu, Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath, Minister for Energy, Forests and Environment P Ramachandra Reddy, IT and Industries Minister G. Amarnath, and Chief Secretary K S Jawahar Reddy. Their collective endorsement of these projects sets the stage for a vibrant future in renewable energy endeavors for Andhra Pradesh.
