Two individuals were apprehended in Goa for their involvement in the fatal attack on the chief of Indian National Lok Dal’s (INLD) Haryana unit, Nafe Singh Rathee. The operation, which resulted in the capture of Saurabh and Ashish, saw the coordination between the Haryana Police’s Special Task Force and the Special Cell of the Delhi Police. The felony took place on February 25; Rathee and an INLD member named Jai Kishan succumbed to the gunshots fired at their vehicle in Jhajjar’s Bahadurgarh.
A heinous ambush at a railway crossing involved assailants targeting Rathee’s SUV, leaving him and an aide dead and others critically wounded. Jhajjar’s SP commented that they had already retrieved the getaway vehicle used in the murder and were diligently working to nab the remaining suspects. Included in the investigation are individuals associated with the case’s FIR, while police interrogate an arrested Rajasthani man over related threat calls, despite his apparent lack of connections to crime syndicates.
The killing has triggered a political turmoil, prompting fingers to be pointed at the incumbent Haryana government for security lapses. Senior INLD leader Abhay Singh Chautala criticized the state’s governance, and Home Minister Anil Vij announced a forthcoming CBI investigation into the incident. Meanwhile, law enforcement is actively tracking down the culprits to hold them accountable for Rathee’s murder as the quest for justice forges ahead.
