RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav fiercely criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asserting that Modi is misleading the public and is not a genuine Hindu for not observing traditional mourning practices. Speaking at the ‘Jan Vishwas Maha Rally’ in Patna on March 3, 2024, Lalu Yadav accused Modi of fostering hostility and attempting to deceive the Hindu community.

Lalu Prasad Yadav is also adamantly opposed to what he perceives as the privatization of the Indian Railways by Modi, suggesting it could benefit capitalists over the general public. He recalled his father’s time as the Railway Minister when the railways were turned into a profitable venture and reforms like providing permanent jobs to railway porters and introducing earthen catering ware were implemented. The RJD leader questioned Modi’s contribution to the country and governance compared to his father’s achievements.

The RJD chief also rebuked Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for his political inconsistency, referring to Kumar’s past alliance changes, and urged the public to counter the BJP in forthcoming elections. The rally showcased a show of strength from the opposition, with leaders such as Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and Akhilesh Yadav joining Lalu Yadav’s call for a united stand against the current administration.

Mentioning family connections, Lalu Yadav highlighted the involvement of his family members in politics, citing the naming of his wife Rabri Devi, a former chief minister; his daughter Misa Bharti, a Rajya Sabha member; and the alleged ‘land for jobs scam’ where Tejashwi Yadav also figures, albeit as a minor at the time of the controversy. Addressing the theme of dynastic politics, he countered PM Modi’s comments, challenging the PM’s definition and implications of such a political system.

Ultimately, Lalu Yadav’s comments at the rally reflect a broader combat for ideological supremacy and governance direction in Bihar, with efforts to connect with the public on issues of social justice and governance integrity, while defending his party against accusations of corruption and dynastic rule.
