National Security Adviser Ajit Doval engaged in critical discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Israel on the recent conflict in Gaza. Their talks on March 11 focused on the urgency of humanitarian assistance in the region as well as measures for securing the release of hostages. This meeting signifies the active role India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are playing in collaborating with key regional leaders to enhance peace and stability.

Benjamin Netanyahu shared insights on the Gaza situation and the ongoing actions against Hamas. Ajit Doval’s visit also included a meeting with his counterpart, Tzakhi Hanegbi, reinforcing the bilateral collaboration between India and Israel. India has already commenced sending essential humanitarian supplies to support the Palestinian people amidst the conflict.

On his stance for further military operations, Netanyahu was resolute about preventing incidents like the October 7 attack and committed to dismantling the Hamas military capabilities. Despite not clarifying the exact duration of the operation, he suggested it would not exceed two months. Confronting criticism from US President Joe Biden, Netanyahu upheld that his strategies were aligned with the wishes of the Israeli populace. Meanwhile, on the Palestinian front, Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh remained open to peace talks but emphasized that a lasting ceasefire and complete Israeli withdrawal were critical conditions for any forthcoming agreement.
