In a significant update for highway travelers, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has issued a warning that FASTags lacking complete Know Your Customer (KYC) details will face deactivation by banks after January 31, 2024. This directive comes as part of NHAI’s ‘One Vehicle, One FASTag’ initiative, aimed at streamlining toll collection and preventing the misuse of FASTags.

FASTags with sufficient balances but incomplete KYC will be blacklisted or deactivated by banks, according to NHAI’s recent statement. To avoid inconvenience, NHAI is urging FASTag users to ensure the completion of KYC for their latest FASTags, aligning with the Reserve Bank of India’s guidelines. Following the deadline, only the most recent FASTag accounts will remain active, while previous tags will be rendered inactive or blacklisted.

To facilitate a smooth transition and assist users in this process, NHAI has provided a step-by-step guide for checking and updating the KYC for FASTags. Users are advised to visit their bank-linked FASTag website, log in using their registered mobile number, and enter the OTP received. In the My Profile section, users can click on the KYC tab, fill in the required details such as address proof, and submit the information. The KYC page will then display the status of the completed KYC.

Additionally, users can check their FASTag status on the dedicated website fastag.ihmcl.com. By logging in with their registered mobile number and clicking on the My Profile section, users can access their KYC status and review the profile details submitted during the registration process.

Completing the KYC for FASTags requires specific documents, including the vehicle’s registration certificate, identity proof, address proof, and a passport-size photo. Accepted identity and address proofs include documents such as the passport, voter’s ID, Aadhar card, driving license, and PAN card.

In case of any queries or assistance, FASTag users can reach out to the nearest toll plazas or contact the toll-free customer care number provided by their respective issuer banks. As the deadline approaches, travelers are encouraged to take prompt action to avoid any disruptions in their FASTag service.
