The political landscape in Himachal Pradesh is undergoing turbulent changes, with former Chief Minister implying the possibility of political turnabouts similar to those in Bihar. The recent shift in allegiance by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to the NDA serves as an indication of the coalition’s growing strength and the appeal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. The BJP views this as evidence that the political India bloc is failing even before establishment, while the Congress party’s foothold in various states is under scrutiny.

In the most recent critiques, it was asserted that the Congress-led government of Himachal Pradesh is faltering in delivering development and governance. There is a reported halt to public welfare schemes, and unresolved promises from past assembly poll guarantees have overshadowed the state’s progress. Furthermore, the BJP criticized the Congress for excessive borrowing, citing a figure of ₹14,000 crore obtained in just over a year without notable outcomes.

Confrontation is looming in the state’s legislative assembly, with the BJP poised to challenge the ruling party’s policies during the upcoming Budget session, which will run from February 14 to February 29. The opposition intends to raise issues regarding the inequitable distribution of disaster relief funds. In addition, BJP spokespersons have condemned the Congress government for obstructing central projects, particularly highlighting the deadlock surrounding a Central University. This project, valued at ₹510 crore, is stalled due to the state’s failure to remit ₹30 crore required for forest clearance. The party urges immediate payment to reinvigorate this critical educational project in Kangra district, suggesting that the Congress is deliberately hampering progress to meet political ends.
