As the date for the grand opening ceremony of the Ayodhya Ram Temple draws near, Uttar Pradesh has heightened security measures, in light of a security alert regarding a potential breach. The Inauguration slated for January 22, the event has prompted the deployment of about 12,000 personnel around Ayodhya. A noteworthy adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology into security protocols marks a proactive approach to ensuring the safety of attendees.

Artificial Intelligence will play a pivotal role in monitoring activities and identifying any malfeasance. An extensive network of approximately 10,000 CCTV cameras, with 400 in critical zones, has been set up to facilitate AI-driven facial recognition. This system also aims to detect patterns by analyzing the frequency and behavior of visitors. By uploading Uttar Pradesh’s criminal database, the AI is tuned to match and identify persons of interest with heightened efficiency. The initiative is part of integrated control rooms, where real-time data is scrutinized to detect and address threats swiftly.

The consecration rituals of the temple commenced on January 12, leading up to Prime Minister Modi’s performance of the ‘Pran Pratistha’ puja on January 22, accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and an array of dignitaries. Among these, a team of priests headed by Lakshmikant Dixit will carry out the core ceremonies. Moreover, unexpected VIP movement linked to the event has bolstered security along the NH27, or Ayodhya highway. The road from Lucknow to Ayodhya is prepared to welcome around 700 VIPs and 200 state guests, including renowned sports figures, jurists, musicians, and Bollywood celebrities.

Law enforcement officials are keen on striking a balance between stringent security and cordial interactions with visitors. Police have received specific instructions to assist devotees courteously and to keep thoroughfares clear of any vehicular obstructions, thereby ensuring a smooth transit for the public. The amalgamation of traditional security tactics with AI innovations underscores the significant efforts made to protect the sanctity of the event and its participants.
