As of January 6, over 1.25 crore requests were registered in Telangana for a variety of public assistance initiatives. People who missed the initial deadline are looking forward to the next opportunity to apply. On the final submission day, a notable amount of applications were made, most of which aimed to fulfill pledges from the Congress party’s recent election commitments. Village and town officials also received numerous requests for ration cards and other essential services. The Chief Secretary previously announced the ‘Praja Palana’ events would take place every four months, offering another chance for those who missed this round. Post-program completion, the government began uploading the applications online, with a target date set to January 17. This process is being closely watched by local administrative officers. The program, which started on December 28, clarified that existing beneficiaries of certain schemes need not reapply. A unified form has been created for five key promises, which includes financial aids, subsidized cooking gas, free electricity, pensions for different demographics, agricultural support, and housing assistance among the major benefits. The substantial response to the Government of Telangana’s efforts in registering aspirants for its flagship initiatives, with over 1.05 crore submissions, demonstrates the eagerness for these programs. The ‘Praja Palana’ program ended on January 6 with many seeking ration cards and land issue resolutions. A notable proportion of applications were in alignment with the five guarantees proposed pre-election by the Congress party, while others pertained to diverse issues. During the program span in late December to early January, over 1.11 crore households were reached. A single form was made available for five schemes, with the sixth to be processed separately. The Congress’s financial support for women, farmers, laborers, and aid for housing construction were some of the assurances made under these guarantees. The data collection for these applications is in progress and will be meticulously reviewed to avoid inaccuracies, with a target completion date in mid-January.
